School health events
School health events are organised by schools in the borough and supported by Sports Development. These events normally include topics such as physical activity, healthy eating, personal safety and sun awareness in the summer. School nurses, dental specialists and primary care advisors in Wandsworth can support health events in schools.
Why have a school health event?
Delivering a health event at your school will help promote:
- Healthy eating
- Physical activity
- Sun awareness in the summer months
- Personal safety in the winter months.
It will also highlight how important the health of your school community is to your school, provide positive role models for your students and contribute to your school achieving Healthy School status under the national Healthy School scheme.
We have previously supported a number of schools in delivering health events. For example, we have delivered a Whole School Workout in a couple of schools, which were a great success!
If you are interested in organising a school health event for your school, contact our physical activity co-ordinator Lucy Howcroft for more information.
