Vaccination is the safest and most effective way of protecting individuals and communities from vaccine preventable diseases.

In the UK, there is a free NHS immunisation programme that protects babies, children, teenagers, pregnant women, and adults.

Vaccination against flu

A free influenza vaccine is available for:

  • Children
  • Pregnant women
  • Over 65-year olds
  • People with certain medical conditions (including children in at-risk groups from 6 months of age)
  • People who are overweight
  • Carers and care home residents. 

Travelling abroad

Some vaccinations are free for those travelling abroad. Ask your GP or Travel Health Nurse for more details.
