Brighter Living Fair postponed

This year’s Brighter Living Fair has been postponed, Wandsworth Council has announced.
The fair, which helps people in the borough with care and support needs find out about local services, was due to be held in the autumn, but will not now go ahead due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on its planning and preparation
Last year around 250 people went along, heard from representatives of more than 50 organisations and took part in activities. The event was held in the Wandsworth Civic Suite, currently home to an emergency food hub (see the video below).
The council’s cabinet member for adult social care and health, Cllr Melanie Hampton, said: “It’s really regrettable that we have had to postpone Brighter Living because it’s a brilliant event that I know people get a lot out of.
“But the adult social care department must focus its resources on helping vulnerable people through the pandemic, and many of the organisations due to take part are also playing their part in tackling the crisis.
“For example, we are working very closely with AgeUK Wandsworth on our food distribution hub to make sure food packages are getting out to people that need them.
“We’ll let you know as soon as we have a date for the next Brighter Living Fair, but in the meantime don’t forget that if you are concerned about yourself, or a vulnerable friend, relative or neighbour, you can call the Wandsworth Community Hub on 020 8871 6555. Helpline staff will put you in touch with the support you need.”
