If English is your second language and you are interested in becoming a social care worker, there is still time to sign up for a seven-week course starting this month.

The Language to Work Course will give you an introduction to the health and social care sector, plus the skills you need to get a job.

You will get a guaranteed interview with a local care employer, an English as a Second Language (ESOL) writing qualification and one-to-one support.

In return you will need to commit to the course five days a week for seven weeks from January 20, and will need a good understanding of reading, writing and speaking and listening in English.

The course is being run jointly by the council’s job brokerage Work Match, which matches local people with jobs, and the Life Long Learning team, which runs courses for adult learners.
