Over the bank holiday weekend, if you need to access local health services there are a number of ways you can do this.

Ask a pharmacist
Your local pharmacy offers healthcare services which you don't need to book an appointment for, just pop in.

Pharmacists are experts in medicines who can help you with minor health concerns.

As qualified healthcare professionals, they can offer clinical advice and over-the-counter medicines for a range of minor illnesses, such as coughs, colds, sore throats, tummy trouble and aches, pains and contraception.

If symptoms suggest it's something more serious, pharmacists have the right training to make sure you get the help you need. For example, they will tell you if you need to see a GP, nurse or other health care professional.

Medical help
If you need medical help over the bank holiday weekend you can also visit NHS 111 online, which is available 24/7.
Please remember that A&E and 999 are for emergencies only.

Mental health and well-being support
If you need urgent mental health support over the bank holiday, call the NHS’s 24/7 Mental Health Crisis Line team. They are there to help you. Please only attend A&E if it is an emergency.

 Advice on drinking responsibly
Remember to drink responsibly over the bank holiday. If you would like more information about alcohol and your health or to take an online drink test visit the drinkchecker.

Come and have a chat about your health
Wandsworth Council’s health bus continues to help residents to remain healthy and well. This coming September, the health bus will next be out on the following dates:

Thursday 8 September,
11am to 3pm
Ensham House, Tooting, SW17 8AP

Tuesday 13 September,
10am to 4pm
ASDA Clapham Junction, 204 Lavender Hill, London SW11 1JG

Councillor Graeme Henderson, Cabinet member for adult health and care said,

“Our health bus has been making a real difference in communities across the borough and helping to tackle health inequalities.

“By coming out to you, we are helping people with everything from advice on quitting smoking, or other conditions like your risk of heart disease, diabetes, dementia awareness, stroke, or kidney disease.

“Our friendly team of community champions are always happy to listen and offer advice.”

NHS staff will also be on hand to give you the COVID-19 vaccination if you haven’t yet had it, as well as the booster dose. If you have any questions or concerns about the vaccine, you can come along and just have a chat about it.

For more information about local health and wellbeing services, as well as what you can do to stay healthy and active visit the council's health webpages.

COVID testing kits
Wandsworth Council’s new administration is keen to ensure workers in key public-facing roles across the borough can continue to receive free testing kits to keep them, their families, their colleagues and the wider public safe. This includes all those who deal face to face with the public.

Frontline workers can visit the following venues to pick up a free test kit:

  • Roehampton Library, SW15 4HD
  • Battersea Library, SW11 1JB
  • Tooting Library, SW17 9PD
  • Wandsworth Library, SW18 4AQ

People need to bring some form of work ID to prove they are a frontline or key worker.
