So far during the pandemic, Wandsworth Council has issued over £68m in cash grants to over 7,000 businesses and awarded an additional £69m in business rate reliefs, but we know that many businesses have been hit hard and need further support.

Under the revised ARG scheme, grants are now available for:

  • Businesses with fixed property costs which were open for business on the 4 November 2020 (the day before the second national lockdown) and have been severely impacted by local/national restrictions, yet have not benefitted from any previous or on-going grant schemes or business rates reliefs (with the exception of the Discretionary Business Fund Grant).
  • Businesses that received a Discretionary Business Fund Grant payment between July and October 2020, provided they were open for business on the 4 November 2020.
  • Businesses operating out of domestic properties which have fixed on-going non-property related business costs, were open for business on the 4th November 2020 and have been severely impacted by local/national restrictions will also be eligible

Businesses should apply as soon as possible for a one-off grant.

Cllr Aled Richards-Jones, Cabinet Member for Economic Development, Skills and Employment, said: “The council is here to provide support during this difficult time for business and I urge businesses to check their eligibility for this amended grant scheme and other schemes currently available and apply straight away.

“We know how hard businesses have been hit by the pandemic and lockdowns and so we are offering financial support to those that may have missed out on previous grant schemes.”
