In his letter to Ambassador Vadym Prystaiko, he praises the resilience and bravery of the people of Ukraine in their battle to protect their country’s independence, democracy and freedom.

“The good people of Wandsworth stand ‘shoulder to shoulder’ with me as their Mayor in support of your country and the stoic heroism of your people and your President Volodymr Zelenskyy,” he writes.

“We have been proud to demonstrate our unity with your country and to fly your flag over the Wandsworth Town Hall and to floodlight the building in the sovereign colours of Ukraine.

“Our thoughts and prayers in our community are with your people during this difficult time.”

The council has illuminated Wandsworth Town Hall in the colours of the Ukrainian flag, and will continue to fly the flag on the town hall flagpole as the crisis continues.
