It was sent in by Deborah Wright, whose relative attended the 1937 event. When she came across it in her home, she sent it to the council to share with residents.

Entertainment on the night featured comedians, musicians and Argo the Clown and food included roast beef, pickles, boiled potatoes and Coronation Trifle. The employees were given a gift of a packet of cigarettes and their wives half a pound of tea.

“What a fascinating document, and we’re really grateful to Deborah for sharing it with us. It certainly shows how times have changed,” said the Mayor of Wandsworth Jeremy Ambache.

Members of the public can see a copy of the document on display in the reception area of the Register Office at Wandsworth Town Hall. The original is available to view on request.
