Secondary schools inviting parents to open days as part of admissions process for September 2022
Published: Monday, September 13, 2021
Secondary schools across the borough are throwing open their doors to prospective parents and pupils in a series of open days ahead of next month’s deadline to apply for a school place.
Parents can now visit local secondary schools to see which ones they feel are best suited to their children’s needs.
The open days are now underway and will continue at various times and dates between now and October 21 – ten days before parents must submit their secondary school choices for September 2022.
For full details of the open days please visit the council’s website.
The hosting of open days mark the start of the process to apply for a secondary school place for the next academic year. All applications must be submitted before the final deadline of Sunday, October 31.
This crucial deadline applies to children who were born between September 1, 2010 and August 31, 2011 and have just started Year 6 at primary school.
Parents can find out more about Wandsworth’s 11 state-funded secondary schools and helpful information on how to apply for a place by reading the council’s latest 'Choose a Wandsworth Secondary School' brochure.
The brochure and more information outlining the application process can also be found on the council’s website. Parents and carers who want to make an online application will find a link to the e-admissions website on this page.
Parents of children living in the borough must apply online or submit their application form to Wandsworth Town Hall by the October 31 deadline. This includes parents who are applying for a school place in another borough.
People who submit their choices on time will be told the outcome of their applications at the beginning of March 2022. Those who have applied online will receive an email notification while those who’ve submitted a paper application will receive a letter sent by first class mail.
Parents can list up to six schools in any part of London on their application but it is always recommended to include at least one close to where they live.
People who apply online, using the secure and confidential pan-London e-admissions website, will receive helpful tips and prompts as they go through the process.
Online applications can be edited and amended as often as parents choose right up to the deadline and each time it is completed parents will receive an email notification confirming the application has been properly received and registered.
