Press statement: Cladding removal at the Filaments
Published: Wednesday, October 14, 2020
Wandsworth Council has welcomed plans for the removal of cladding on two private blocks on the Filaments Estate in Wandsworth Town.
The council, alongside the Government, has been working with Mount Anvil to ensure action is taken.
Work to remove the defective ACM cladding is set to start on both the Copperlight building and Aurora Apartments on the first working day of January. This work is subject to scrutiny by both council and Government officers to ensure the cladding replacement scheme is fit for purpose. Detailed and technical plans are now being drafted.
Cllr Ravi Govindia, Leader of Wandsworth Council, said: “I am very pleased that this work is about to get underway. It will be a huge relief for residents. I’m glad we have been able to support them to get this resolution.
“This action has come about through a purposeful and constructive dialogue with Mount Anvil and we will continue to work with them and monitor progress to ensure they deliver.
Mount Anvil has stated that these works will not be recharged to leaseholders.
