The Kick the Fat football league is gearing up for its third season.

Kick the Fat is a football league with a difference -  it’s only for men who want to lose weight.

The league runs for ten weeks and is for people with a BMI of 30+ and everyone who wants to lose weight. It's subsidised by Wandsworth Council and the cost is just £20 for the entire ten-week course. 

Kick the Fat participant Don said: "I too part in the pilot scheme and found it immensely rewarding and helpful. The sense of kinship and mutual support is very motivating but it's also a lot of fun, no pressure just a low stress way of getting back into physical activity amongst like-minded people. Highly recommended."

Kick the Fat is perfect for all abilities and fitness levels, even if you haven't played football for a while. You don't have to play every week as non-playing teammates can still lose weight and contribute to the score.

Each week you will be weighed before the game and your weight loss converted into goals on the pitch. To help with your weight loss, each week you’ll get a chance to meet with a qualified nutritionist to get tips and advice on your diet.

Kick the Fat kicks off with registration sessions in the week commencing October 7. The league will then start the following week at three locations in the borough.

  • Mondays 7.30pm at The Wandle Recreation Centre, Wandsworth, SW18 4DN
  • Tuesdays 8.30pm at Battersea Park Millennium Arena, Battersea, SW11 4NJ
  • Fridays 6.30pm at Furzedown Recreation Centre, Tooting, SW17 9BP
