Surveys and research show that children and young peoples’ mental health has worsened over recent years.

children aged 5 to 16 years were identified as having a probable mental disorder, increasing from one in nine in 2017. The increase was seen in both boys and girls.
Self-harm is more likely in children and young people who experience emotional and mental health problems.

Concerned about a child or young person?
Anyone can make a referral if they are worried about a child or young person and think they may be a victim of neglect or abuse, whether as a member of the public or as a professional.
