Broadwater Primary School Street (suspended)

A School Street serving Broadwater Primary was launched on 12 October 2020. The scheme was suspended in September 2023 following the closure of the school. 

Operating hours

Monday to Friday from 8.30 to 9.15am and 2.45 to 3.45pm, term time only.

During the operating times people walking, scooting, using wheelchairs, mobility scooters and cycles (including adapted cycles) are able to enter the School Street.

Motor vehicles are prohibited during the operating times, subject to a limited number of exemptions. 

How it works

• Signs notify drivers of the School Street operating times
• Retractable barriers and bollards are currently being used to enforce the School Street restrictions

Note: In March 2021 retractable bollards were installed on Broadwater Rd at the junction with Rogers Rd. The map of the scheme and the scheme description have been amended to reflect this.

Summary of the consultation results for Phase 2 School Streets

In September 2021, the Strategic Planning and Transportation Overview and Scrutiny Committee approved making the School Street permanent (Paper no. 21-236).
