Shaftesbury Park Primary School Street

A School Street has been operating since 12 October 2020 on Ashbury Road between Grayshott Road and Brassey Square (East).

Operating hours

Monday to Friday from 7.30 to 9.30am and 3 to 6pm, term time only.

During the operating times people walking, scooting, using wheelchairs, mobility scooters and cycles (including adapted cycles) will be able to enter the School Street.

Motor vehicles are prohibited during the operating times, subject to a limited number of exemptions. 

How it works

• Signs notify drivers of the School Street operating times
• Planters are used to prevent through traffic on Ashbury Road. Access to this section of Ashbury Road is maintained for exempt vehicles (and at other times) via Brassey Square

Summary of the consultation results for Phase 2 School Streets

In September 2021, the Strategic Planning and Transportation Overview and Scrutiny Committee approved making the School Street permanent (Paper no. 21-236).
