Donate, sell, share and repair

Items you no longer need or want can be repaired, reused or shared to help the community and reduce waste.

You can take unwanted items to charity shops and donation banks, or use a collection service.

Donate

Avoid bulky waste collection charges and help the British Heart Foundation or Wandsworth Oasis by using their free collection services for donations of suitable quality furniture, electricals and homeware.

Most charity shops accept suitable small donations delivered to the counter without appointment.  Many are too small to accept donations of furniture or other large items, but we have identified a number that can.

These shops:

  • Are located on main roads crossing the borough on the way to Smugglers Way Household Waste Recycling Centre
  • Have access to loading bays or other safe parking options

Please consider donating suitable quality furniture, white goods, electrical items, books, vinyl records and household bric-a-brac to charity rather than dumping them at the tip. This helps reduce waste disposal costs as well as helping the charities!

Little Lives UK is a children’s charity that offers a clothes collection service for donations of unwanted clothes and accessories in Wandsworth. The charity accepts adult’s and children’s clothes and other household items.

Before donating

It is advisable to give the charity a call before you visit to discuss the item you wish to donate. Sometimes charities may not be able to accept your donation, for example sofas cannot be sold without a fire label.

Items should be clean, dry and largely undamaged. Staff may wish to view them while still in your vehicle, to assess whether they are in a saleable condition.
