Borough of Wandsworth Community Trust

The Borough of Wandsworth Community Trust is a charitable trust funding initiatives that promote local priorities.

It is a registered charity (No.1197849), independent from the Council and overseen by a board of trustees chaired by the Deputy Lieutenant of Wandsworth, Mrs Colleen Harris MVO DL.

Update February 2025

Following due consideration, the trustees have taken the decision to wind down operations and close the trust. This task is being carried out in accordance with the Charity Commission guidelines. The remaining funds held (£23,770) are being distributed to the organisations who have previously received grants from the trust. 

Any funds remaining at the close of the charity and its bank account will be transferred to the Mayor of Wandsworth’s Charitable Trust (Charity No.1148260). This charity has a similar remit to benefit the residents of Wandsworth.

How donations have been used

In a consultation carried out in April 2021, Wandsworth residents told us they would be most keen to fund measures which improve the lives of young people who live in the borough. This is why the board of trustees chose children and young people as the first priority area for the trust and decided to support projects that enable children to thrive in their education, and support young people into employment

Funding could include support for:

  • Mentoring and extra support programmes to help children and young people gain confidence and bounce back into education or the workplace following the COVID-19 pandemic
  • Supporting children and young people’s mental health through counselling or other activities to build resilience
  • Activities that help children and young people to get physically active and make healthier choices in life
