Battersea Design and Technology Quarter
A new Battersea Design and Technology Quarter at the western end of the Nine Elms opportunity area would build on a strong existing creative economy which is forecast to develop further with future investment in the Nine Elms area, including the arrival of the London headquarters of Apple and Penguin Random House.
The opening of the Northern Line extension, expansion of the Royal College of Art's Battersea campus and the 'Apple effect' is already generating investor interest in the area. Plans will draw on a strong existing design community in this part of Battersea with existing creative enterprises.
Wandsworth Council has commissioned a study to define the strategic direction for the Design and Technology Quarter. A consultant team, led by architects We Made That, undertook the study and made findings which validated the concept of a creative design and technology cluster here and defined the scale of the opportunity together with recommendations on how the council can facilitate and shape the Quarter.
