Battersea Business Quarter

Location

The Battersea Business Quarter is located at the western end of the Vauxhall Nine Elms Battersea Opportunity Area. The area is experiencing significant regeneration following the development that has taken place in Nine Elms and Battersea Power Station.

It is unique in being a business location close to the Central Activity Zone (CAZ) that has a varied use, from light industrial to office space for a range of business sectors.

The opening of two new tube stations on the Northern line extension offers major transport benefits and recently we have seen major companies like Apple locate in close proximity to this area.

We are working with partners to deliver high quality buildings and public spaces with flexible and varied workspaces.

Vision for the area

We are looking for opportunities to support development in the area so that we can achieve the following:

Enterprise and creativity

A place that invites creativity, imagination and innovation, where people have the freedom and ability to try and test new ideas.

A place for designing, producing and scaling.

Smart growth

A place that:

  • Can adapt and react to new opportunities, changing demand and developing technologies
  • Encourages and facilitates landowners to work ambitiously but within well-defined parameters that protect the Battersea Business Quarter in perpetuity

Open and inclusive

A place that:

  • Showcases and supports enterprise and talent from all, irrespective of background
  • Invites public engagement with businesses and entrepreneurs that are meeting the challenges of sustainability, creative tech, health and wellbeing

Innovation and collaboration

A place where strong relationships and a supportive business ecosystem build economic strength.

A place for businesses of all shapes and sizes, where co-creation is encouraged, and everyone feels they have a stake in the future of the area.

People-focused

A place of life, activity and opportunity, where people can meet, do business, socialise and connect. An animated, vibrant, walkable, and valued part of Battersea.

A place that is intimately connected to its surroundings, both within its boundary but also to the wider neighbourhood.

Business sectors

The major sectors in the Battersea Business Quarter are linked to the surrounding business quarters in the area. Sectors include:

  • Food
  • Florists
  • Fashion
  • Professional services
  • Film and audio visual
  • PR and media

The proximity to central London has also made the area attractive to businesses that supply services to the CAZ, but want to pay lower rents. This is a key benefit for industrial spaces, especially when distribution is involved.

The changing business operating environment has brought a shift in business location and size and more corporate businesses are moving their headquarters to Battersea, for example Apple and Shark Ninja.

This shift is changing the business ecosystem of the area. With the development of modern spaces, there is potential for other new tech sector growth.
