Winter support payment
The winter support payment is intended to support lower income pensioners with the cost of living during winter.
Who is eligible
The scheme is open to pension aged residents in receipt of a Council Tax Reduction that are not currently in receipt of Pension Credit.
What you will receive
Pensioner households with all members under the age of 80 will receive £200.
Pensioner households with at least one member over the age of 80 will receive £300.
Automatic payments
We have identified and contacted eligible residents, and made payment to those whose bank details we have on file.
If you are in this group you should have received a confirmation letter indicating that the payment was credited to your account during the week beginning 2 December 2024.
How to apply
If we do not have your bank details on file you will need to complete an application to receive the winter support payment.
You will have received a letter about the scheme that includes a unique passcode. Please keep this letter safe, as you will need this passcode to complete your application.
What you will need
To complete the application form you will need to provide your:
- Unique passcode
- Email address
- Bank details (Sort code, account number, and name on the account)
- Council Tax account number
If you do not have an email address you can use a friend or family's email to complete the application form.
Apply online
You should apply using the online form by Friday 31 January 2025.
We use a third-party provider, Ascendant Solutions. Their system is very easy to use and enables us to quickly process your claims. You may have used the same system when claiming energy rebates.
To apply:
- Access the Ascendant Solutions portal
- If you have not used it before you will need to register. You will receive an email with instructions on how to create a password. If you have used the system before, log in
- Once logged in, you can enter a 'quick code' which will take you to the correct application
- Under 80: 653B1X
- Over 80: 653B1Z
- Start an application
- Read details regarding use of your personal information - Agree and continue
- Enter the passcode on the letter we sent you
- Provide your personal information, home address and phone number - Save and continue
- If the bank account you would like us to pay does not belong to you, explain why - Save and continue
- Enter the bank details you would like the funding paid into - Save and continue
- Copy the declaration reference number to confirm you are happy with the terms - Complete your request
Receiving your payment
Once we receive your application form and details a one-time payment will automatically be paid into your bank account in either the week commencing 13 January 2025 or 3 February 2025.
Get help with your application
Self-service terminals are available for residents who do not have online access or need help to apply for a Discretionary Grant. These are available at all borough libraries and at the Wandsworth Customer Centre in the Town Hall.
