Coaches Bursary Grant
The Wandsworth Moves Together Grant Fund makes a limited number of grant awards to coaches, officials and instructors within the sporting community of Wandsworth against the criteria outlined below.
Aim of the grant
The aim of the Wandsworth Moves Together Grant Fund is to support the delivery of the Wandsworth Moves Together Strategy by increasing sport and physical activity opportunities for all residents, from all sections of the community, of the London Borough of Wandsworth.
The aim of this bursary is to support qualifications recognised by the following organisations:
- Sport England
- National Governing Bodies of sport
- UKCC
- Street Games
- UK Coaching
- REPS
- EFDS
- First for Sport
- City & Guild
- CIMSPA
This grant will not support the following:
- Safeguarding & Protecting Children Workshops
- 1st Aid Courses
- Equity and Inclusivity Courses
- School and College Teachers
Grant amount
Grants can be awarded for no more than 50% of the total cost of a course up to a maximum of £500.
Who can apply
Any sport or physical activity providers who deliver regularly at a sports club or community organisation in the London Borough of Wandsworth.
These could include:
- Coaches
- Officials
- Instructors
- Volunteers
Applicants must be aged 16 or over at the start of the course they applying to be supported.
Applications must be endorsed or supported on the application form by the sports club or community organisation where the individual or coach is linked to.
Qualifications
If applying for an NGB/UKCC level 2 bursary grant applicants will need to have already completed and successfully passed an NGB/UKCC level 1 qualification relevant to their sport.
Links to sports clubs or community organisations
All applicants should be linked to a sports club or community organisation in the London Borough of Wandsworth.
The application should show the impact the individual gaining the qualification will have on the Wandsworth community.
Volunteering requirement
Successful applicants will be expected to give some voluntary time back to the organisation that supported their application.
In some cases we maybe able to offer volunteering opportunities in the Sports Development team. If this is the case please contact the Grants Officer at sportsdevelopment@wandsworth.gov.uk.
This volunteering will be based on the following level of support:

£250 to £500 | 20 hours minimum |
Timescales and deadlines
Applications must be made at least 2 months in advance to the course taking place and within the application windows.
Only one successful application will be considered within a twelve month period. Grants cannot be made retrospectively.

Assessing applications
Applications will be considered on a case by case basis.
All grants will be considered on their own merit.
Only fully completed forms with a signed supporting statement will be considered.
If you are successful
In applying for a grant, all applicants agree to the details of successful applications (with photographs/videos) being used for publicity purposes.
Grant agreement
You will be required to sign a grant agreement to release your payment and include the terms and conditions of the grant. This agreement will require you to submit all evidence of the expenditure related to the grant award.
Report and evidence
Successful applicants must agree to provide a report and evidence of how the grant has been spent within six months of receiving the grant.
This report can include the use of pictures, videos, blogs etc. as well as the traditional items like receipts and booking confirmations etc.
This report should also include the impact of you gaining your qualification has had on the residents of Wandsworth.
Use of logo
Successful applicants agree to use the Wandsworth Borough Council’s logo when advertising session and activities and on their social media profiles and guidelines will be supplied for use.

You'll be able to save and return to the application within 30 days, however all applications must be received by the closing date the be considered.
The following is required and must be provided with your application:
- Information on why you are applying
- The benefits of you gaining the qualification
- Details of your sport and physical activity delivery experience
- Details of project costs
Supporting statement
You'll need to upload a supporting statement, completed by a sports club official or community organisation lead officer.
This should state that the organisation supports this application and what impact the recipient receiving this grant bursary will have on members of the organisation and the Wandsworth community. Confirm who will be monitoring the volunteering hours undertaken by the recipient and include their contact details.
This should be dated and the full name and position of the author included.
