Pop-up COVID-19 vaccination clinic to run for two days on the Alton Estate

Working in partnership with South West London Clinical Commissioning Group, Wandsworth Council has arranged for 6 Portswood Place (also known as the Alton Arts Hub) to become a COVID-19 vaccination walk-in clinic for two days, Thursday 24th February and Thursday 3rd March.

It is hoped that these two days in the Roehampton area will make it easier for residents to get their jab locally.  

Matron Maggie Murphy, NHS Nursing Manager, is urging all those who are eligible to come along into the Alton Pop-Up clinics to get their jabs or to find out more about the covid-19 vaccination.

She said: “It is never too late to come forward for a first, second or a booster dose of the life-saving vaccine. If you have any concerns, a member of the vaccination team would love to chat about the vaccine and answer any questions you might have. If you are three months on from your second dose, please walk in – the sooner you’re boosted, the better.” 

Walk-in COVID-19 vaccination clinics

  • Thursday 24th February and Thursday 3rd March, 11.00am-2.00pm, 6 Portswood Place, SW15 4ED  
  • Get the 1st, 2nd or booster dose, depending on your eligibility.
  • Walk-in, no need to book.

You are also encouraged to come and have a chat about the COVID-19 vaccine, if you have any questions, with no pressure to get it.

Councillor Clare Salier, Cabinet Member for Adult Care and Health at Wandsworth Council, said,

“The evidence is clear that the vaccinations against the virus are effective in reducing serious illness, hospital admissions and deaths. We want to encourage everyone, particularly those in the Roehampton area, to get their vaccination as soon as possible.

We are very pleased to be working in partnership with our local NHS services to increase convenience for our residents and protect them against COVID-19.”

About the Alton Arts Hub 
The Alton Arts Hub is overseen by the Alton Regeneration team at Wandsworth Council as part of their ‘meanwhile use strategy’ for empty retail units. This clinic has been offered as a pop-up vaccination centre free of charge.

Recently, the team has worked in partnership with the Roehampton Community Shed group and provided the unit at 6 Portswood Place as a new home for the group.
