The project has now taken a significant step forward as the council has appointed Kind & Co as its building contractor for the project.

Councillor Jonathan Cook, Cabinet Member for Housing at Wandsworth Council, said:

“We are looking forward to working with Kind & Co on this scheme which will make an important contribution towards the council’s Housing for All programme and our promise to deliver 1,000 new council homes by 2027.”

When it is complete, the Whitlock Drive garages site will deliver a three-storey building comprising one 1-bedroom, six 2-bedroom and two 3-bedroom homes with undercroft parking and landscaping. There are also some street improvement measures associated with the project including new tree planting, reconfigured parking and pedestrian pathways.

Joint Managing Director, Bill Bassenger for Kind & Co, commented:

‘’We are thrilled to have been appointed to work on this scheme with the council.  Currently on site further north of the borough delivering 18 homes in Gideon Road, we look forward to continuing to partner with the team at Wandsworth, to work towards the delivery of their current housing programme - which will bring 1,000 new homes to residents by 2027.’’

The Housing For All programme is on track to deliver 1,000 homes by 2027 with 188 having been completed across 14 sites, and a further 312 across 29 sites being built or having obtained planning consent. All new homes within the programme are prioritised for Wandsworth residents and key workers.
