Work is progressing onsite at Colson Way, one of our latest developments in the Homes for Wandsworth programme, to deliver eight new supported housing units.
The council-owned land was previously the site of some underused lock-up garages
The eight supported housing units are specifically designed for wheelchair users, as well as residents that require additional support to live independently.
Aydin Dikerdem, Cabinet Member for Housing at Wandsworth Council, said:
“A decent home is the foundation everyone needs for a fair chance in life. We are building 1,000 new council homes through our Homes for Wandsworth programme, but it is important that these homes provide the variety that is necessary to cater for different backgrounds and different needs.”
By delivering on small parcels of land like this, we can build much-needed homes and create better neighbourhoods with landscaping and street improvements.
The development at Colson Way will deliver new trees and planting, on a site where there previously was none, and improvements to pavements, as well as a new refuse store for Fordyce House.
Our Homes for Wandsworth programme is on track to deliver 1,000 new council homes across the borough. This ambitious target will help to ensure that more Wandsworth residents on council waiting lists can have a quality home, giving families peace of mind and a firm foundation.
