Wandsworth students celebrating their A-level success 

Students attending Wandsworth schools who sat this year’s A-Level exams have shown steady progress in achieving some of the top grades.
 
Conpared with 2019, which is the comparable year where marking of grades was not influenced by allowances for Covid disruption, Wandsworth schools have seen an improved performance with increases in A* and A grades awarded.  
 
The proportion of A* Grades rose by just under one per cent while the proportion of grades awarded between A* and B rose by nearly 1.5 per cent.
 
Pass rates at all A-level grades was more than 96 per cent.
 
Those students on vocational B-Tech courses saw 28 per cent achieving a distinction or better with just under 71 per cent scoring a merit or better.
 
The borough’s final overall scores are also set to rise further once results from Putney’s Ashcroft Technology Academy are known and included.
 
Kate Stock, Cabinet Member for Schools, said: “I’m delighted that so many young people in Wandsworth are celebrating their exam successes. 
 
“These young people suffered serious interruption to their learning because of Covid lockdowns so they deserve great credit for having worked so hard to achieve these results.
 
“Whatever they choose to do next in life, whether that be to go to university, take up an apprenticeship or begin a career in the workplace, I would like to wish them good luck and offer them my best wishes for the future.”
 
Wandsworth has some of the best secondary schools in the country with 100 per cent rated good or outstanding by education watchdog Ofsted.
