Playground refurbishment underway at Battersea’s Shillington Park

Work has just begun on the refurbishment of the junior and toddler playground and outdoor gym at Battersea’s Shillington Park.

The revamped playground will offer younger children brand new play equipment including swings, a roundabout, multiplay activity tower, village shop playhouse and junior exercise trail.

Adults and older children will also be able to use an upgraded outdoor gym with new air walker, cross trainer, back and abs bench, resistant training poles and step boxes.

The new equipment was chosen by local people as part of a public consultation which offered three different layout and equipment choices. The final design took all comments into account and resulted in some additional equipment being added to the most popular design.

Work on the revamp is expected to begin to take around eight weeks to complete.

Cabinet member for environment Judi Gasser said: “This is good news for residents and families in this part of Battersea.

“This exciting new-look playground should be very popular with younger children while adults can keep fit and healthy by exercising on the upgraded outdoor gym equipment.

“We’d like to thank everyone who took part in the consultation for helping us choose the final design.”
