Tooting residents have the opportunity to shape a comprehensive series of improvements at a neighbourhood green space.
Families living in the area are being asked for their views on proposals to upgrade play facilities and a series of landscaping improvements at the Furzedown Recreation Ground.
The town hall has set aside more than £680,000 to fund these improvements.
The consultation documents states: “This refurbishment will include a new bespoke landscape that meets the needs of the local community and is resilient for the future. We will support people to be healthier and happier through improved accessibility to a variety of passive and active recreational opportunities, and we will change the look and feel of the park to be welcoming to all.
“The project will also see us design a new playground for children aged up to 14 with an increased capacity to allow more children to play at the same time. We will also provide diverse equipment that is accessible to all children, and which provides opportunities to develop fine motor skills and encourage active lifestyles.”
Judi Gasser Wandsworth’s Cabinet Member for Environment said: “We are really keen to hear the views of local people and better understand what they want to see in their local neighbourhood park.
“We have set aside a considerable sum of money to fund a range of improvements and would like local people to tell us how they think could best be spent at Furzedown Rec.”
Once this initial phase of consultation has concluded, all of the feedback will be carefully considered in drawing up options for the refurbishment – and will then be followed by a second round of public consultation to determine a final design.
