Wandsworth Arts Fringe continues

The Wandsworth Arts Fringe continues this week with a host of events taking place at multiple venues all over the borough.

And to make sure everyone can join in the fun, there are loads of free activities and events, including fun things for families to do together, with tickets for all live performances from free to £20.
Councillor Kemi Akinola, Wandsworth Council’s Deputy Leader and cabinet member for the voluntary sector, business engagement and culture said: “Launched in 2009, WAF now attracts close to 20,000 people every year to Wandsworth’s streets, parks, and venues with its exciting and eclectic line-ups. Community-minded at heart, but always with big aspirations, WAF is a unique melting pot of creativity from both local and international artists.”
Week two highlights include:
Explore the borough with the Art and Architecture Walking Tour of Battersea and A Wandle Wonder Wander, exploring the river using mixed-reality.
Theatre for children includes faraway ancient adventure Queen of the East in The Arches at St Mary’s Church, Putney and The Jungle Book and Meg and the Magic Toyshop at multiple venues.
If it’s an exhibition you’re after, there’s Chinese and Japanese Calligraphy, an exploration of the concept of beauty in Body Beautiful from Sound Minds, the work of Susie Nathanson and Stella Tooth at Performers in Paint Art at Putney Library, go Into The Forest made of reused and recycled materials, find peace in a Sacred Space at Providence House and take a surreal tour of The Thermos Museum.
Families can create together at a Print-Making Workshop, contribute to a giant mural at Kimber Skatepark and you can take an online Creative Writing Workshop, or join The Oracle Collective for workshops exploring life in the music industry.
Hallomai Dance will be popping up on estates around the borough and the Royal Academy of Dance hosts The Magic of Dance Workshops and holds an open day at its Battersea headquarters.
The Power and the People tells the history of Battersea Power Station through personal stories and memories.
There will be a Street Band Procession in Roehampton (pictured above), a Community Concert in Tooting and Black Heroes Foundation presents The Story of Flip Fraser at Battersea Arts Centre.
Comedy at the Bedford includes It Just so Happened… - short stand-up sets exploring the history of Wandsworth and Balham from comedians including Arthur Smith.
Plus loads more comedy, theatre, music, exhibitions, cabaret, workshops and dance at many venues all over the borough including The Arches at St Mary’s Church, Putney, The Bedford in Balham, the Alton Arts Hub in Roehampton, the Royal Academy of Dance in Battersea and All Saint’s Church in Tooting.
