The Council has four area housing teams - Central, Eastern, Southern and Western – that are being expanded with eight new Estate Managers and four new Administration Officers.
Currently, there are eight estate managers per area team. Each area team will get two new additional estate managers, a 25% increase in capacity for the service.
The new staff will allow the teams to reduce the number of properties each manager looks after, enabling them to spend more time with tenants and leaseholders, and respond to their queries.
Aydin Dikerdem, Cabinet Member for Housing at Wandsworth Council, said:
“The area housing teams have been under-resourced over the last few years. We have made the decision to expand the teams because we believe that Estate Managers are a core part of our service to tenants as they are often the primary point of contact that residents have with the Council.
“The increase to the area housing teams resources is the first increase in over 20 years and will have a big impact on how we are able to support our residents.”
Estate Managers have a wide range of responsibilities from arranging repairs and responding to reports of criminal or anti-social behaviour, to routine tenancy and lease queries such as transfers of tenancy and responding to service charge enquiries.
