Organisations that provide care and support services in the borough are working with the council to host more than 160 community Brighter Living events during the whole of October, including events on Older People’s Day and Silver Sunday.
Highlights include fun activity days, intergenerational fun days, painting workshops, a Silver Swans celebration at the Royal Academy of Dance, walks, trips out, advice on falls prevention, wellness workshops, singalongs, yoga, senior aqua fitness, keep fit sessions and much more. It's a chance to have fun, try out new things and find out about the support available to help you stay an active and connected member of the community.
Events are free, but you are recommended to check with the organiser if you need to book to secure your place.
The popular Silver Sunday Tea Dance at the Wandsworth Civic Suite will also return on October 1. Have a dance, meet new people and enjoy refreshments, workshops, crafts and music.
Cabinet member for health Cllr Graeme Henderson said: “Thanks to all the local voluntary organisations, charities and community groups putting on events this year as part in the Brighter Living Fair. Have a look at the programme, find an event that looks good and come along."
