An exciting day for those students picking up their GCSE results.

We are delighted to say that in Wandsworth, Average Attainment 8 increased from 51.4 points in 2023 to 52.3 in 2024 and the percentage of children achieving grade 5-9 in English and Maths rose 3% from 56% in 2023 to 59% in 2024.

We are also so proud of our looked after children in the borough, 15% of these students, who have been in our care for more than 12 months, achieved grade 5 or above in both English and Maths compared to 9.5% (CLA national, 2022-23). A huge thank you to everyone who has supported them throughout their journey and who will continue to support them moving forward, from foster carers and teachers to social workers and virtual school advisory teachers. Your dedication to helping our students has been invaluable.

We visited Chestnut Grove to speak to students and teachers on this big day. Richard Cheesbrough, Deputy Headteacher, said; “We are extremely proud of our students’ results this year. They have achieved stunning outcomes and we’re delighted to see a swathe of top grades again this year. More importantly, they have demonstrated great determination and commitment to their studies and their hard work has put them firmly on the path to future success.”

These results are a testament to your commitment and resilience and we hope you are pleased with your achievements. Whether you’ve secured the grades you hoped for or found yourself considering new paths, remember that there are many opportunities ahead and this is just the beginning.

We also want to acknowledge the invaluable support from parents, guardians, teachers, and school staff, who have guided our students throughout their studies. Your encouragement and dedication have been instrumental in helping them reach this important milestone.
