As South Asian Heritage Month continues, the Mayor, Councillor Sana Jafri talks about why Wandsworth Council proudly celebrates the South Asian community and its special significance for her.

South Asian Heritage Month runs until August 17 and celebrates the cultures, histories and contributions of South Asian communities with roots in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
Wandsworth Council has already funded five new South Asian-led cultural projects to encourage residents of South Asian heritage to engage with culture that is meaningful and relevant to them, and to allow the wider community to better understand and be inspired by the histories of other residents.
