Early provisional GCSE results indicate that Wandsworth's students have achieved their strongest outcomes yet, with improvements in Attainment 8 and in both English and maths benchmark measures.
The borough continues to perform well above national averages, reflecting the hard work and dedication of students, teachers, school staff and families.
For many, today's results open the door to sixth form, college, apprenticeships or other training pathways. It is also a chance to reflect on the hard work, resilience and determination shown throughout their studies, supported by teachers, school staff, parents, carers and families.
Damola Ademolake, Principal at Ernest Bevin Academy, said: “As a Principal, it is always a privilege to see students celebrating some excellent achievements and reflecting on what their effort and ambition has secured for them.
“The qualifications they have gained today are of course important for opening doors to further education and study, but the values our students display are also vital to unlock success.”
Jackie Valin, CEO and Principal at Southfields Academy, said: "I am absolutely delighted with GCSE, and A Level results this year.
“Students have surpassed expectations. These results reflect the hard work of our students and the incredible support that the parents have given the young people and also the dedication of our staff.
“We wish the students well as they continue on their next journey.”
Raphaelle, student from Burntwood school, said: “I passed everything!
“I was really happy I passed Science as I was really worried about that, and I got my highest grade in History.”
A student from Chestnut Grove said: “I’m happy. I’m heading off to do an electrical installation course!”
Another student from Chestnut Grove who is staying on to study Geography, Maths, Psychology and Biology at A Level, said: “I’m very happy with my results.
“I’m looking forward to Sixth Form here at Chestnut Grove. Mostly because all of my friends are coming here!”
Wandsworth's Virtual School continues to champion children in care and previously looked-after children, ensuring they receive tailored support to help them achieve their ambitions.
Nova Levine, Headteacher at Wandsworth's Virtual School, said: "Receiving GCSE results is an important milestone, and we're delighted to celebrate this moment with our care experienced young people.
“We are so proud that our Wandsworth care experienced children in Year 11 achieved provision results of 27% (Level 5s in both English and Maths) compared to CLA National 2024 of 7.9%.
“This means that overall, they are outperforming their peers again this year at over three times!”
Advice and support remain available for every student as they decide on their next steps. All children can access support from the Virtual School (VS), alongside guidance from schools, colleges and the council's Post-16 Participation Team on further education, training, apprenticeships and other pathways.
