Wandsworth students celebrate success as results are announced

Provisional statistics, based on figures available on results day, show that grades at A*-C rose by 3.5 percentage points to 79.1%, matching the England average. This increase was also seen at grades A*-E from 97.7% in 2025 to 98.5% in 2026, 0.6 percentage points higher than the England average.

BTEC results also improved, with the number achieving a Distinction or D* increasing by 5.2 percentage points, from 40.4% to 45.6%, while the overall pass rate rose from 97.4% to 99.4%.

From university offers and apprenticeships to employment and further training, today's results reflect years of commitment, perseverance and ambition. Across the borough, schools and colleges welcomed students back to celebrate their success with teachers, friends and families.

Students spoke about the excitement of opening their results and looking ahead to the opportunities now open to them.

Ahmed, student from Ernest Bevin, said: “I feel really proud of myself.

“I’m off to study Medicine at Queen Mary’s University.”

Alice, student from Chestnut Grove Academy, said: “I got exactly what I needed to get!

"I’m so happy, this is so exciting.”

Staff have supported students throughout their studies, helping them prepare for exams while encouraging them to develop the confidence and skills needed for life beyond the classroom.

Rachael Robinson, Assistant Headteacher at Chestnut Grove Academy, said: “I am absolutely thrilled for all the students.

"Some incredibly impressive grades and so well deserved – the year group have been a joy to teach over the last seven years and I’m extremely proud of them all!”

Wandsworth's Virtual School is also recognising the achievements of care experienced young people who have completed their A Levels and Level 3 BTEC qualification.

Nova Levine, Headteacher at Wandsworth's Virtual School, said: "Today is a chance to celebrate everything our care experienced young people have accomplished and the exciting opportunities now ahead of them.

"Every result represents an individual journey, and we are proud to see our young people taking their next steps into higher education, training, and employment with confidence.

“Achievements range from students progressing onto top Russell Group universities, securing full-time work as well as those focused on spending the next year volunteering, securing work opportunities and travelling abroad.

"We will continue to champion their ambitions and support them as they build bright futures."

Students who are still considering their options can access advice and support through their school or college, including guidance on UCAS clearing, apprenticeships, further education and training opportunities. The council's careers services are on hand to provide guidance.
