We are shining a light on independent stores, restaurants, pubs and bars in town centres and shopping streets across the borough. Small and microbusinesses make up 98.9 per cent of Wandsworth firms.

The Mayor of Wandsworth Sana Jafri will be travelling around the borough to meet local businesses alongside the council’s High Streets Champion Jo Rigby and representatives from the London and Wandsworth Chambers of Commerce.

On Tuesday Cabinet Member for Businesses Kemi Akinola joined the London Deputy Mayor for Business Howard Dawber on a visit to Tooting Market and to co-working space Tooting Works, where he met young entrepreneurs supported by Business Launchpad.

Cllr Akinola said: “We all need to show our appreciation for our local businesses because if we don’t use them, we could lose them. Shopping online might be easy, but by choosing local stores you can find quirky, unique gifts as well as supporting your community.”
