The Community Access Grant and the Women and Girls Grant both offer funding options to support a wide range of projects that align with the council’s strategic goals for inclusive, accessible and sustainable physical activity as part of its Wandsworth Moves Together strategy.

Community and voluntary sector organisations, including charities, trusts, schools, colleges and universities are invited to apply for grants to support initiatives that allow additional opportunity and access to sport, physical activity and wellbeing across the borough.

The funding is paid for by charges levied on new development in the borough, reinvested into local infrastructure and services that directly benefit residents and help mitigate the impact of growth and development.

Paul White, Cabinet Member for Environment, said: “We have launched these two grant schemes to help remove barriers to local people getting active and make sure everyone has the chance to enjoy the benefits of sport and physical activity.

“These are paid for in full by levies on property developers building in Wandsworth, meaning we can deliver local benefits without adding a penny to your Council Tax.

“Whether it’s a new programme in a local school or improvements to a community sports facility, we want to support projects that make a real difference.”

The two grants now open include:

Community Access Grant

The Community Access Grant is designed to improve opportunities for underrepresented and disadvantaged groups to engage in sport and physical activity.

  • Revenue grants are available to support the delivery of new programmes, including staffing, outreach, equipment, venue hire and marketing. Projects must be delivered within the borough and completed within one year. The deadline to apply is 15 February 2026.
  • Capital grants are available to support infrastructure improvements such as renovations, accessibility upgrades and structural enhancements that remove barriers to participation. This grant follows a two-stage application process, beginning with an Expression of Interest. The deadline to apply for the first stage is 23 December 2025.

Women and Girls Grant

The Women and Girls Grant aims to address the barriers that prevent women and girls from participating in sport and physical activity.

  • Revenue grants are available to fund programme delivery and engagement activities tailored to female participants. Applications must address at least one of eight identified barriers or target groups. The deadline to apply is 15 February 2026.
  • Capital grants are available to support physical improvements to facilities and equipment that promote inclusive access for women and girls. This grant also follows a two-stage application process, beginning with an Expression of Interest. The deadline to apply for the first stage is 23 December 2025.
