The streets where these cycling improvements are being considered are Chelverton Road and Montserrat Road in Putney, along with Vant Road, Garratt Terrace and Gambole Road in Tooting.
Cycle contraflows form part of Wandsworth Council’s Walking and Cycling Strategy – which aims to increase the number or local journeys taken on foot or by bike. The aim of contraflows is to improve the layout on one-way streets by providing a more direct route for cyclists to join existing cycle networks.
If approved the measures would provide more space for cyclists, encourage a shift away from vehicles and towards more cycling, and improve cycling safety as part of the council’s wider cycling strategy.
To find out more about what is proposed in each individual street and to register your views, please visit the council’s website. The consultation draws to a close on February 19.
