Five interactive videos have been developed to equip young people with the skills and knowledge to deal with a range of emergency situations.

The Junior Citizens scheme has been running in Wandsworth for around 30 years – the longest running initiative of its kind in the UK.  Thousands of schoolchildren have been on the course during that time, taking part in ‘real life’ scenarios to learn how to stay safe.

The scheme has moved online to make sure children are not put at any risk during the pandemic. Face to face sessions will resume as soon as possible.

Chairman of Junior Citizen Cllr Richard Field said: “We are all immensely proud of what Junior Citizen has achieved over the past three decades – it has helped shape generations of Wandsworth residents and given them the tools they need to stay safe and be a valuable part of the Wandsworth community.

“It has not been possible to run a face-to-face scheme during the pandemic, so I’m delighted that this virtual course is now available and will be delivered to our Year 5s this term.”
