How the revamped play area will soon look

The playground is closing on January 22 for around six weeks while work is carried out on a major refurbishment of the play area.

The £173,000 project will deliver new play equipment alongside a series of biodiversity improvements in and around the playground. The new-look design has been created following public consultation.

During the closure period, children and families can visit the nearby playgrounds in King George’s Park or the Fernwood Playground in Albert Drive. For more information please email parks@enablelc.org

Coronation Gardens dates back to 1902 and commemorates the coronation of King Edward VII in August 1902. It was donated to the people of Wandsworth by Sir William Lancaster, a businessman, philanthropist and politician who served as the second Mayor of Wandsworth between 1901 and 1902 and who also co-founded the Putney School of Art and Design.
