"Thank you to everyone who has been putting their Christmas trees out for collection this year.
“So far, we’ve collected more than 175 tonnes which will be turned into agricultural fertiliser, part of our commitment to sustainability and protecting the environment.
“This year we will continue delivering our Cleaner Borough Plan to make it easier for you do the right thing with your rubbish and recycling.
“Food waste collections will be rolled out to all households in the summer, and to flats later on this year.
“We will also be introducing household collections for small electricals this summer, as well as drop off banks in libraries and other locations.
“A new fleet of modern and more efficient vehicles, running on cooking oil to drastically cut carbon emissions will replace the older waste trucks we currently use.
“These are just some of the many improvements we will be making this year, along with our commitment to keeping weekly rubbish collections, when many councils are moving to fortnightly collections.
“Finally, don’t worry if you haven’t put your Christmas tree, we’re still collecting them. Read on more below for more details.”

Cabinet Member for Environment
Putting your tree out
Your tree will be collected on the same day as your rubbish and recycling, but in a different vehicle, so it may not be at the same time.
Trees should be left out after 6.30pm on the day before the collection is due, and by 6.30am on the collection day. Please remove any pots or decorations.
Where to leave your tree
- If you have a front garden - put your tree out for collection next to your rubbish and recycling bags, on your usual collection day - not on the street. Ensure it's where the waste crews can see it and is clearly visible.
- If you do not have a front garden - put your tree just outside your front door on the pavement taking care not to block where people walk.
- If you live in a block of flats - leave your tree near to your rubbish or recycling bin store, making sure you do not block access to the bins.
You can also take your trees to one of three drop-off points:
- Tooting Common, Dr Johnson Car Park, SW17 8JU
- Battersea Park, Albert Bridge Car Park, Albert Bridge Road, SW11 4NU
- Battersea Park, Chelsea Gate, Carriage Drive North, SW11 4NJ
