7 rings, 7 days: Wandsworth’s new resident guarantees get underway

Simon Hogg, Leader of Wandsworth Council, visited the Customer Service Centre to watch the roll-out of the council’s new ‘7 rings, 7 days’ guarantee for residents.

He met the team of trained telephone operators answering calls and heard first-hand about the range of enquiries coming into Wandsworth’s Customer Services.
The dedicated contact number of 0208 871 6000, which a member of staff will answer within 7 rings, was launched on 30 January together with a new promise that residents reporting graffiti, a dangerous pothole or broken street sign will see it fixed in 7 days.
The council is also offering every household two free bulky waste collections a year - saving households up to £47 each - to help achieve cleaner streets across the borough. Weekly waste collections and recycling collections are also guaranteed, alongside the expansion of much-loved Mega Skip Days.
These new guarantees are part of our pledge to make it easier for residents to get in touch, listen to their priorities and ensure faster street repairs across the borough.
A digital dashboard will be published on the council website from Friday 7 February with weekly stats on the success rate of the ‘7 rings, 7 days’ commitment, along with monthly updates on actions taken to reach a 100 per cent success rate.
Simon Hogg said: “We’re listening to residents and acting on what we’ve heard – central to this is making it easier to get in touch with us and committing to deliver better waste and street services.
“I was delighted to meet our dedicated customer services team and talk to them about our new pledges to residents.
“All of this is delivered alongside charging the lowest council tax in the country, because sound financial management is at the heart of everything we do.”
