The annual London-wide event raises awareness of the local support available and celebrates the great work of organisations and community groups across the city.
Across the borough, a variety of services are available for children, young people, and adults.

There are services to assess and treat emotional, behavioural, and mental health challenges in young people. There’s also counselling for young people aged 11 to 25 and a youth club and tailored support for LGBTQ+ young people aged 13 to 18. ‘Portus’ provides young people and their parent’s and carers with advice and support  for self-harm.

Adults can access free and confidential talking therapies for issues like stress, anxiety, and low mood. Thrive London, Office for Health Improvement and Disparities, and the NHS also provide a free digital mental wellbeing service. Great Mental Health Day is an opportunity to connect and support one another as well as learning more about the resources available in our community.

Councillor Graeme Henderson, Cabinet member for Public Health and Community Safety says:

“Great Mental Health Day is a day to recognise the importance of talking about mental health. It’s helpful to have open conversations as it affects us all. There are many organisations across the borough providing free support for residents of all ages.”
