Wandsworth Council is committed to improving air quality across the borough and we want to hear your thoughts on how to build on recent successes in reducing air pollution.
Recent data confirms that air pollution levels in Wandsworth are continuing to decline, with nitrogen dioxide levels dropping significantly in recent years and overall, air quality has improved across the borough. But we know there is still work to do.
Come to Putney Exchange or Balham Library on Thursday 22 January between 12pm and 3pm to talk to air quality officers and learn more about our borough’s clean air initiatives.
Our air quality officers are also hosting a free online webinar on Wednesday 21 January at 7pm - you can sign up here.
You can also create your own personalised air pollution action plan on the Clean Air Night website.

Paul White, Cabinet Member for Environment, said: “We are committed to making Wandsworth a healthier, cleaner and greener place to live, work, and visit.
“By supporting initiatives like Clean Air Night, investing in sustainable and active travel infrastructure and cleaner renewable fuel solutions, insisting on higher building and commercial site air quality standards and working closely with our communities, we can continue to drive down air pollution levels and protect the health of our residents.”
This remains an important issue, with recent research from the Royal College of Physicians finding that long-term exposure to air pollution in the United Kingdom is estimated to contribute to 30,000 deaths a year.
As a listening Council, we are working with residents, businesses, community energy groups, and local organisations including the Air Quality Citizens Assembly and Air Quality Ambassadors to help local people take action to improve air quality.
