Battersea neighbourhood alive with music, dance and art at Happy Streets Festival

Despite the rain, more than 800 local residents joined the Mayor of Wandsworth to enjoy this year's free Happy Streets festival in Battersea, with live performances, face painting, food, sports, wellbeing and craft activities.

Three venues around Thessaly Road hosted 30 different activities for all ages and interests on Saturday 6 July 2024, including smoothie making, football host by FAST London and free pizza-making workshops.

The R.O.S.E Community Clubroom set the scene for art and crafts with paint your own Happy Caps from PiNS and Scene in London workshops, and those looking for a moment of quiet joined Ayana Jade's multi-sensory wellbeing sessions.

St George’s Primary School was the venue for vibrant performances on and off the stage from World Heart Beat, Kinetika Bloco, Caribbe Steel Pans and the BAC Beatboxers Academy with the running order coordinated by experts from Wandsworth Arts Fringe Young Presenters.

Families joined in dance workshops hosted by MACS Dance and watched performances by The Bollywood Co, SASalsa, MovementWorks and E33 Dance.

Pop-up performances from Blink Dance Theatre, the Divine Stilt Walkers and remote controlled-wheelie bins kept children entertained.

The festival comes as Wandsworth is getting ready to be London Borough of Culture 2025.

Happy Streets Festival was produced by Swans Production on behalf of Wandsworth Council.
