Mike has been pivotal in securing Wandsworth a much-enhanced cost of living support package – the most generous in London, improved support for families through new family hubs and overseen the introduction of an approach with schools to tackle food insecurity.

Wandsworth has retained a Carbon Disclosure Project ‘A-rating’, planted 350 new trees, and installed 525 electric vehicle charging sockets demonstrate the Council's commitment to becoming carbon-neutral by 2030.

The completion of essential repairs on Wandsworth Bridge, opening of new libraries, and leading support for victims of Violence Against Women and Girls reflect the Council's dedication to community wellbeing under Mike’s leadership.

Cllr Simon Hogg, Leader of the Council, praised Mike Jackson’s contributions:

"Under Mike Jackson’s leadership, we have maintained the lowest council tax and crime rate in inner-London and doubled our investment in roads and pavements.

“Mike has been crucial in supporting the most vulnerable, focusing on delivering 1,000 new council homes, and leading our environmental initiatives. His efforts were pivotal in our selection as the London Borough of Culture, 2025, promising a transformative year ahead.

“I know I echo the feelings of colleagues across the council as well as partners and residents in being grateful to Mike for all of his efforts."

CEO Mike Jackson said,

“It has been a real honour to serve Wandsworth diverse communities at such a critical time and my decision to step away from the role now is based entirely on personal family reasons. The role and work for both boroughs is really rewarding -  they are thriving places with huge potential.

“The council teams serving both boroughs are brilliant – and I’m confident that Wandsworth and Richmond will continue to go from strength to strength and deliver exceptional services to residents.”
