Wandsworth Family Pride was organised in partnership with Enable and the Wandsworth LGBTQ+ Delivery Network as part of the Summer In… series of events.  It featured live music, activities, poetry recitals and a chance to chat to local LGBTQ+ organisations.

Wandsworth staff members also showed their support by taking part in London Pride on June 29, organised by the council’s LGBTQ+ Ally Group.

Pride Month is a national event dedicated to celebrating and commemorating LGBTQ+ identity and equality.  Wandsworth’s support included flying the Pride flag, organising events, including in libraries and as part of the Wandsworth Arts Fringe, and promoting Pride Month events on its social media channels.

The council’s business support team are also keen to hear from businesses interested in joining the Ask for Clive scheme, which is about highlighting venues that support inclusion and who create a welcoming environment for the LGBTQ+ community.

Wandsworth is funding training in how to deal with reports of discrimination and harassment, and businesses receive as door sticker to let people know everyone is welcome and discrimination won’t be tolerated.  Find out more.

Cllr Kemi Akinola, deputy council leader, said: “It was fantastic to proudly march with staff members and show our support for Pride. It reflects our determination to stand with our LGBTQ+ colleagues and residents in their struggle for equality.

“The council is committed to continue working with local LGBTQ+ groups to ensure everyone in our community is treated with dignity and respect, throughout the year.”
