Wandsworth is a White Ribbon accredited organisation for its work tackling violence and abuse against women. It has doubled support for domestic abuse services and increased outreach work within communities, and funding has been allocated to support an additional Independent Domestic Violence Advocate (IDVA) within the borough, focused on economic abuse and mental health.
The safety of women and girls is also at the heart of the borough’s new Night Time Strategy, published in December following extensive consultation with local people.
Wandsworth Council’s Deputy Leader Cllr Kemi Akinola said: “We’re proud to mark International Women’s Day and celebrate the women who contribute so much to our borough. We pledge to work tirelessly to support local women and girls and keep them safe.”
