This free and accessible programme is designed to help beginners gradually build up their running ability, making it a great way to improve health and wellbeing.
Natalie, Roehampton Community Hub Manager at the Roehampton Family Hub, said: "I’m excited to join the Couch to 5K in the Alton, Roehampton - it's a great way to get moving and connect with others. It’s all about progress, not perfection, and I’d love to see my neighbours giving it a go."
Taking part is easy – simply download the Couch to 5K app and let us know you’re getting involved by calling 07903 927479 or emailing bugbearworkshops@gmail.com. Participants who sign up will receive additional support to stay motivated and on track throughout their journey.
Judi Gasser, Cabinet Member for Environment, added: “This is a fantastic opportunity for Alton Estate residents to get active in a fun and supportive way with others in their community.
“Whether you're a beginner or simply looking to improve your fitness, Couch to 5K is a great way to build confidence and enjoy the benefits of regular exercise. We hope as many people as possible take part and reap the rewards of moving more.”
This initiative is part of Wandsworth Moves Together, the council’s leisure strategy, which is committed to creating estate-based physical activity programmes that deliver affordable and accessible opportunities for residents. The Alton Estate pilot is the first of many initiatives aimed at making it easier for people to lead active and healthy lives.
