char.gy Ltd has been appointed as the new operator of many of the lamp post charging points in Wandsworth. They take over from ubitricity through a phased rollout which started last July.

We have more than 1,200 electric vehicle charging points across the borough, including 613 lamp post charging points which have been operated by ubitricity under contract with Siemens. The technology of these charge points is open access and designed to be transferable between operators.
Phase one involved transferring the 220 ubitricity charge points originally installed over 2023/24. Phase two incorporating 167 chargepoints, primarily in Lavender and Thamesfield wards, will take place from 19 March 2025 and the final phase of 226 sites will begin in November 2025.
char.gy operatives will attend each of the chargers to replace the payment QR code and signage, and ensure all systems are operational. Works are programmed across two weeks but some sites may take longer if issues arise on transfer. We will work with char.gy to resolve any issues as soon as possible.
The charge points themselves will not change, and there will be no changes to the charging process other than payments now being made to char.gy instead of ubitricity via the new QR code provided.

The pay-as-you-go price of electricity at each of the charge points will be 39p per kWh. The previous contract pricing was set several years ago and does not reflect current energy costs, but this is still very competitive compared to other chargers in the network.
All live sites can be found on ZapMap. These also include more than 600 chargepoints which will remain under direct contract with ubitricity which are not included in the transfer arrangements.
