Pride Month began after the Stonewall riots and is a national event dedicated to celebrating and commemorating LGBTQ+ identity and equality.

Cllr Kemi Akinola, deputy council leader, said: “We are determined to create a fairer, more equal borough which recognises the contribution made by all members of our community.

“We are proud to stand with our LGBTQ+ friends and neighbours, commemorate their struggle for equality and join them in celebrating Pride Month.”

A series of events organised by the council and by the community will celebrate Pride Month including events in libraries and as part of the Wandsworth Arts Fringe.

The council will use its online channels during the month to promote local event and give the LGBTQ+ community a platform.
