To mark Pride Month, the Progress Pride flag will fly proudly over Wandsworth Town Hall throughout June as a symbol of solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community. To celebrate the Pride in London March on Saturday 5 July, the Town Hall will be lit up in rainbow colours from Saturday 28 June to Monday 7 July and Wandsworth Bridge will be lit rainbow for the weekend of the Pride March (pictured).
Marking Pride month, Kemi Akinola, Deputy Leader of Wandsworth Council and Cabinet Member for Culture, said: “Pride Month is a chance to celebrate the creativity, strength and joy of our LGBTQ+ communities and to reaffirm our commitment to equality, inclusion and visibility, whilst acknowledging the struggle of marginalised communities.
“As London Borough of Culture 2025, we’re shining a light on the diverse voices that make Wandsworth who we are.
“Our Wandsworth Arts Fringe programme starting next week is just one way we show that Wandsworth is for everyone, inclusive, joyful and rooted in community, with many events free for all to attend.”
The council is an inclusive employer and offers year-round support to LGBTQ+ residents including younger residents, such as signposting organisations that can provide support to queer young people.
